Hon. Desmond Elliott has officially refuted recent speculations suggesting a strained relationship between him and the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila. In a firm statement released today, Elliott described the rumours as baseless, mischievous, and the handiwork of those seeking to create unnecessary division.
Addressing the swirling gossip in political circles, Elliott dismissed any notion of discord, emphasizing that his respect and loyalty towards Gbajabiamila remain absolute and unshaken.
“There is no rift whatsoever between me and my leader, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila. These rumours are completely false and are being peddled by detractors who are uncomfortable with the cohesion in our political family,” Elliott stated. “Chief Gbajabiamila has been a mentor, a father figure, and a pillar of support throughout my political journey. My loyalty to him is total and non-negotiable.”
Elliott, who has consistently aligned himself with the political structure led by Gbajabiamila in Lagos and at the national level, reassured colleagues and constituents that he remains fully committed to the shared vision of progressive governance under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Chief of Staff.
He called on members of the public and political observers to disregard what he termed “a desperate attempt to fabricate conflict where none exists,” and urged them to focus instead on the delivery of democratic dividends to the Nigerian people.
“We are united, focused, and working tirelessly in the interest of our constituents and the nation. I will never engage in any act of disloyalty against a man I hold in such high esteem. This is the handiwork of political jobbers, and I refuse to be drawn into their web of falsehood,” Elliott added.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his dedication to his legislative duties and his ongoing collaboration with the Office of the Chief of Staff to advance the administration’s agenda.
