The Sokoto State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally adopted His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Wazirin Adamawa and former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as its sole presidential candidate ahead of the party's national presidential primaries.

This decision was reached through a broad consensus by party leaders, stakeholders, loyalists, and members of the ADC in Sokoto State during extensive consultations. The adoption was announced at a well-attended press conference held in Sokoto on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

Alhaji Muktar Magori (also referred to as Muktari S. Magori), a prominent party chieftain and former Chief of Staff to ex-Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, who spoke on behalf of the stakeholders, emphasized that the endorsement reflects the collective will of the Sokoto ADC to rally behind a leader with proven experience, national appeal, and a strong commitment to good governance.

“The essence of this press conference is to officially announce the consensus reached by members and stakeholders of the ADC in Sokoto State to adopt His Excellency, former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Wazirin Adamawa, as the party’s sole presidential candidate ahead of the primaries,” Magori stated.

He added that Atiku Abubakar represents the best choice to lead the ADC to victory in the 2027 presidential election, unite Nigerians across divides, and address the critical challenges facing the nation, including economic recovery, security, and good governance.

The Sokoto ADC expressed confidence that this strategic endorsement will contribute significantly to the party's success at both state and national levels. The chapter urged all delegates and party members to support this decision during the national presidential primaries scheduled for Monday.
