Peter Obi, the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Governor of Anambra State, has reiterated his unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s progress, emphasizing service over personal ambition.

In a recent interview, Obi stated: “I am not desperate to be president of Nigeria. I am desperate to see Nigeria work.” The remark underscores his long-standing philosophy that leadership must prioritize tangible results in security, economic growth, infrastructure, and national unity rather than the pursuit of power for its own sake.

Obi, who has built a reputation for prudent governance and frugality during his tenure as Anambra Governor, continues to advocate for solutions grounded in competence, transparency, and accountability. He has consistently pointed to his track record of transforming Anambra State as evidence of what effective leadership can achieve when focused on delivering results for citizens.

“As we approach the 2027 elections, my focus remains on addressing the critical challenges facing our nation — from tackling insecurity through a balanced approach of dialogue for those willing to embrace peace and decisive action against those who seek war, to rapidly expanding power generation and revitalizing key sectors like agriculture and education,” Obi said.

He called on Nigerians across all regions and political affiliations to join in the collective effort to build a functional, prosperous, and equitable Nigeria. “This is not about one individual or one election. It is about rescuing our country and creating opportunities for every citizen to thrive,” he added.

Peter Obi’s message resonates strongly with a broad coalition of young Nigerians and concerned citizens who demand a shift from business-as-usual politics to one defined by integrity, innovation, and measurable progress.
