The African Democratic Congress (ADC), South East Zone, has strongly rejected the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office by some South East governors, describing the move as unrepresentative of the aspirations of the Igbo people.
In a statement issued following recent endorsements by certain governors, the ADC South East leadership asserted that Ndigbo will not reward failure in 2027. The party maintained that the position taken by the governors does not reflect the views or mood of the people of the South East zone.
“The ADC therefore rejects, in its entirety, the endorsement of President Tinubu by these governors. Such a position does not reflect the views of Ndi Igbo, nor does it represent the mood of Nigerians who are demanding competent leadership, economic recovery, national unity, security, and good governance,” the statement read.
The party emphasized the need for genuine leadership that addresses the challenges facing the region and the nation, urging the people of South East to prioritize progress, accountability, and effective governance in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
This rejection underscores ongoing political realignments and debates within the South East ahead of the next presidential poll.
