President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly defended the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s (FCTA) exit from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), stating that the policy has provided the necessary financial flexibility to accelerate infrastructure development and drive the rapid transformation of Abuja.

The President made the remarks on Monday while commissioning the new Office Annex of the Body of Benchers and 10 units of four-bedroom staff quarters, among other projects in the FCT. He praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for effectively translating the enhanced financial autonomy into visible, high-impact projects across the nation’s capital.

“I remember the day Wike came to me and said, ‘Please, take us out of this TSA issue so I can do more and achieve more.’ Today, the results speak for themselves,” President Tinubu noted, emphasizing that removing the FCTA from the TSA has enabled faster project delivery and greater efficiency in utilizing internally generated revenue for critical infrastructure.

President Tinubu commended Minister Wike for ending the era of abandoned roads, delivering key infrastructure in both the city centre and satellite towns, and improving connectivity and quality of life for residents. He highlighted ongoing projects that are reshaping communities and positioning Abuja as a modern, world-class capital.

The President also dismissed criticisms regarding investments in judicial infrastructure, describing them as essential support for the rule of law rather than interference.

Minister Wike expressed gratitude for the President’s continued support and unwavering commitment to the development of the FCT. He assured that more landmark projects will be commissioned as part of activities marking the administration’s progress.

This development underscores the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focused on pragmatic policies that empower institutions to deliver tangible results for Nigerians.
