The Presidency has announced the composition of a 108-member All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, with former Zamfara State Governor and Senator Abdulaziz Yari appointed as Director-General.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the council. Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda have been named Vice Chairmen.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was appointed Secretary of the council. APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru will serve as Deputy Secretary, while Hadiza Bala-Usman was named Assistant Secretary.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
President Tinubu will be supported by a body of advisers comprising Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were assigned as Deputy Directors-General for the campaign in the South and North. They will work with Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau in coordinating the two zones.
Among the members of the council is former Super Eagles captain and defender Joseph Yobo, who was named Deputy Director, Sport Sector Mobilisation II. Shehu Dikko serves as Director of Sport Sector Mobilisation, with former Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu as Deputy Director I.
The council also features zonal campaign coordinators, directors across multiple sectors (including media and strategic communication, youth and women mobilisation, legal, finance, education, extractive industries, and faith-based mobilisation), and other principal officers drawn from serving and former governors, ministers, legislators, and party stakeholders.
President Tinubu charged members of the council to work tirelessly to deliver victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections. He urged directors of the various units to involve other party members who may not have been formally listed but are willing to contribute to the campaign effort.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress. We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians,” the President was quoted as saying.
“As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation. Let us soundly defeat all those forces who plan to take our country backwards.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened the campaign window for the presidential and National Assembly elections, which runs until January 14, 2027.
The newly constituted council is expected to coordinate the ruling party’s mobilisation and campaign activities nationwide.
