Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate Datti Baba-Ahmed has explained why he parted ways with Peter Obi.
Baba-Ahmed was Obi’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party. Obi later moved to the African Democratic Congress and then to the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
In an interview on Symfoni TV, Baba-Ahmed said he left because Obi lacks a clear plan for the country.
“Peter Obi didn’t abandon me; I left because he doesn’t have a plan for Nigeria,” he stated.
He added that he worked hard for Obi but informed him of the need for a proper plan. “I let Peter Obi know that he needs to come up with a plan since he doesn’t have one yet,” Baba-Ahmed said.
Baba-Ahmed also said he would not unfairly promote Obi or other opposition figures. “I won’t unfairly help promote Baba Atiku and Peter Obi and others just for no good reason because we need to be fair in life, and that’s what I stand for,” he explained.
