Desmond Elliot, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has apologised to Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
Elliot was seen in a video circulating on social media kneeling before Gbajabiamila. He prostrated and asked for forgiveness over his conduct during the All Progressives Congress primary election.
“I’m sorry, I have no excuse. I have nothing other than to say I’m deeply sorry and I am hoping to be cultured in the future,” Elliot said. He also spoke in Yoruba, saying “Ema binu baba.”
Gbajabiamila asked him to stand up after the apology.
The disagreement started during the APC primary for Surulere Constituency I in May. Elliot withdrew from the contest, alleging intimidation and political pressure against his supporters. He later rejected the result and planned to appeal.
Barakat Odunuga-Bakare won the ticket with 11,385 votes. Elliot received 270 votes.
