President Bola Tinubu has approved the allocation of a property recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) as its new headquarters.
The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, disclosed this on Monday during the commissioning of the facility in Abuja.
Tijani said the President directed that a property of this size recovered by the EFCC should be given to the NDPC. The commission had complained that its growing responsibilities and international profile needed a befitting permanent office.
Vincent Olatunji, National Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the NDPC, stated that the commission received approval for the property from the EFCC in July 2025. Renovation work started in March 2026.
He described the new headquarters as a major turnaround for an institution that began with limited office space and funding.
The facility is located in Mbora District, Abuja, and has about 56 office spaces. The NDPC had previously operated from four different locations within four years.
