Terrorists Kill Nine Passengers and Six Others in Plateau Attacks

Gunmen killed at least 15 people in separate attacks across Jos South, Mangu and Riyom Local Government Areas of Plateau State on Sunday night.  

Nine of the victims were passengers travelling to Jos. Suspected terrorists opened fire on their commercial vehicle at Dungus community in Jos South Local Government Area around 9.40 p.m.  

Rwang Tengwong, spokesman for the Berom Youth Moulders, confirmed the incident. He said the attackers fired on the vehicle carrying the passengers.  

“The incident happened around 9.40 p.m. The victims were all passengers travelling to Jos when the terrorists opened fire on the vehicle. Among those killed was a member of Operation Rainbow. It is a very sad development, and we lament the loss of lives,” Tengwong stated.  

Some passengers sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to hospitals. A resident of the community, Musa Dauda, said some of the injured later died while receiving treatment. Others remain in hospital.  

In a separate attack in Mangu Local Government Area, gunmen killed two people in Vodni, Pushit District. Four others were injured. Two more people were killed in an attack at Tahoos in Riyom Local Government Area.
