In a historic move that marks a new chapter in its leadership, Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) has announced the appointment of its first female Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olufunke Adeyemi. This groundbreaking decision reflects the institution’s commitment to gender inclusion, academic excellence, and progressive leadership.






Professor Adeyemi, a distinguished scholar in the field of Educational Administration and Policy Studies, brings over three decades of experience in academia, research, and university governance. Her appointment was ratified by the university’s Governing Council following a rigorous selection process.






“This is a momentous occasion for Ajayi Crowther University,” said Bishop Dr. Joseph Akinfenwa, Chairman of the Governing Council. “Professor Adeyemi’s appointment is not only a testament to her exceptional credentials but also a bold step toward empowering women in higher education leadership.”







Prior to her appointment, Professor Adeyemi served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at the University of Ibadan, where she was instrumental in driving curriculum reform and student-centered learning initiatives. She is widely respected for her integrity, visionary leadership, and dedication to institutional development.





In her acceptance speech, Professor Adeyemi expressed gratitude to the university community and pledged to uphold the values of the institution while fostering innovation, inclusivity, and global competitiveness.
