A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has declared that the party is poised to reclaim leadership of the state in the upcoming 2026 gubernatorial election.

Speaking at a strategic stakeholders’ meeting held in Osogbo on Saturday, the party leader—whose name was withheld for strategic reasons—expressed confidence in the APC’s renewed grassroots mobilization, internal reconciliation efforts, and growing public support across the state.

“The people of Osun have seen the difference. We are coming back stronger, united, and ready to deliver the kind of governance that prioritizes development, transparency, and youth empowerment,” the chieftain stated.

He emphasized that the APC is undergoing a robust reorganization, including the reactivation of ward structures, engagement with community leaders, and the recruitment of young professionals into the party’s fold. He also called on party members to remain focused and avoid distractions that could derail the party’s resurgence.

The meeting was attended by former state lawmakers, youth coordinators, women leaders, and representatives from civil society groups, all of whom pledged their commitment to the APC’s comeback strategy.

The chieftain also urged the national leadership of the party to ensure a transparent and inclusive primary process, warning that internal divisions must be resolved ahead of the 2026 polls.

Osun State is currently governed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following the 2022 election victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke. The APC’s declaration signals the beginning of what is expected to be a fiercely contested race.
