The grieving father of a slain student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has publicly demanded that authorities disclose the whereabouts of the prime suspect linked to his daughter’s tragic death.
Mr. Olufemi Adeyemi, father of the late 300-level student, Miss Deborah Adeyemi, made the appeal during a press briefing held outside the Ogun State Police Command headquarters on Saturday. He expressed frustration over the lack of transparency and progress in the investigation, despite weeks passing since the incident.
“My daughter was full of promise, and her life was cut short in the most brutal way. We deserve answers. Where is the suspect? Why has there been silence?” Mr. Adeyemi asked, visibly emotional.
The student was reportedly found dead under suspicious circumstances near her off-campus residence earlier this month. Initial reports suggested foul play, and one individual was taken into custody but has since been unaccounted for, according to the family.
Mr. Adeyemi called on the Ogun State Government, the Nigeria Police Force, and FUNAAB authorities to intensify efforts to ensure justice is served. He also urged civil society organizations and human rights advocates to intervene and demand accountability.
In response, the Ogun State Police Command stated that investigations are ongoing and assured the public that no effort will be spared in bringing the perpetrator(s) to justice. FUNAAB management also expressed condolences and pledged full cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
