The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) has called on all eligible residents of the state to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Speaking during a media briefing in Bauchi on [Insert Day], the Chairman of BASIEC emphasized that registering for a PVC is the first step toward active participation in the democratic process. He urged residents who have not yet registered or who need to update their information to visit designated registration centers across the state before the deadline.

“The Permanent Voter Card is every citizen’s power to determine the future of our state and country,” the Chairman said. “We are appealing to all eligible voters, especially first-time voters, to ensure they register and collect their PVCs to enable them to exercise their civic responsibility in upcoming elections.”

The agency further assured residents that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth and transparent registration process. Registration centers are open daily, including weekends, to accommodate working residents and students.

BASIEC also warned against voter apathy and urged political stakeholders, community leaders, and civil society organizations to mobilize citizens to register, noting that high voter turnout strengthens democracy and ensures that the voices of all residents are heard.
