Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has formally denied ownership of the truck involved in the tragic road accident that occurred on Wednesday morning along the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway.
The incident, which involved a Howo truck loaded with cement and a Toyota Corolla, has sparked widespread speculation due to the truck bearing Dangote-branded markings. However, investigations have confirmed that the vehicle in question is registered to Visco Investment Global Limited, a third-party operator unaffiliated with the Dangote Group.
In a statement issued by the company’s management, Dangote Group clarified: “The truck involved in the Enugu accident is not part of our fleet. We are actively engaging with the appropriate agencies to determine why the vehicle was bearing our logo despite having no affiliation with our operations.”
The company emphasized its commitment to brand integrity and announced plans to implement stricter controls to prevent unauthorized use of its logo and identity on vehicles not linked to the Group.
“While it is our policy not to comment on individual incidents, the spread of misinformation linking this tragedy to our organization has compelled us to respond. We urge the public and media to refrain from circulating unverified claims,” the statement added.
