The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially launched a transformative agrifood investment strategy aimed at revolutionizing the agricultural sector through climate-smart farming practices. The initiative, unveiled by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, marks a bold step toward ensuring food security, boosting rural livelihoods, and building resilience against climate change.

The plan integrates climate information services—such as early warning systems and seasonal forecasting—into farming operations, empowering farmers to make informed decisions about planting and harvesting.

“This is a new dawn for Nigerian agriculture,” said a senior official at the launch. “We cannot continue to farm the way our grandparents did. Climate change is real, and if we must secure our food future, we have to innovate.”

The government has pledged ongoing support through training programs, subsidies for eco-friendly technologies, and policy reforms to ensure the success of the initiative.
