Ondo State Governor, His Excellency Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the alarming reports of fraudulent appointment letters issued to unsuspecting applicants during the recent teacher recruitment exercise conducted by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
This directive follows a protest staged by aggrieved job seekers at the Governor’s Office in Akure, who claimed they were denied participation in the biometric verification process despite possessing appointment letters purportedly issued by SUBEB and the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM). Preliminary findings revealed that these documents were forged and distributed by unscrupulous individuals who extorted money from the victims under false pretenses.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed deep concern over the breach of public trust and emphasized the administration’s commitment to transparency, merit-based recruitment, and zero tolerance for corruption. In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Governor confirmed that disciplinary actions have already been taken against three officials implicated in the scandal.
“Those who protested are not teachers but victims of a criminal syndicate that exploited the recruitment process. We will ensure that justice is served and that the integrity of our public service is upheld,” the statement read.
