The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a high-level security alert to the Nigerian Army, warning of imminent coordinated attacks by the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) targeting communities in Ondo and Kogi States.

According to a confidential memo dated October 20, 2025, and signed by H.I. Kana on behalf of the State Director of Security, the DSS disclosed that credible intelligence confirms ISWAP operatives are planning assaults on soft targets in multiple locations. The alert was addressed to the Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery, Owena Cantonment, Akure.

Security sources indicate that ISWAP agents have already begun surveillance operations in these areas, raising concerns about the safety of residents and critical infrastructure. The DSS has urged the military to intensify intelligence gathering and deploy proactive countermeasures to thwart any potential attacks.

In response to the alert, the Ondo State Police Commissioner convened an emergency security meeting with local law enforcement and community leaders to assess vulnerabilities and reinforce security protocols.

The DSS reiterated its commitment to safeguarding national security and called on citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest security agency. The agency emphasized that collaboration between federal, state, and local authorities is essential to neutralize emerging threats.
