Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have continued to record remarkable successes across the North-West, delivering heavy blows to terrorist and criminal elements operating in Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States. This was disclosed by Major General Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, in a press released to journalists on 20 March 2026. According to the report, troops, acting on credible intelligence, conducted coordinated offensives that disrupted terrorist networks, neutralized several fighters and foiled planned attacks on vulnerable communities. On 13 March 2026, troops on fighting patrol in Tubali and Zangon Danmaka villages of Shinkafi LGA, Zamfara State, engaged terrorists in a fierce encounter, eliminating several of them and recovering arms, ammunition and motorcycles used for their operations. In a separate development in Katsina State, troops along the Alikere–Yankara axis in Faskari LGA successfully rescued four kidnapped victims who escaped from terrorist camps, reuniting them safely with their families.

The operational momentum continued with troops thwarting a kidnap attempt on Reverend Nuhu Anche of the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ in Kaduna State, forcing the attackers to flee under sustained military pressure. Several arrests of armed suspects and collaborators were also made across Sokoto, Kaduna and Kebbi States, further dismantling criminal support structures. In a major inter-agency success, operatives of the DSS intercepted a female ammunition courier in Kano with 884 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, highlighting the effectiveness of intelligence collaboration. On 19 March 2026, troops swiftly responded to reports of gunfire in Tungan Aliat Tato Village in Kaduna State, forcing terrorists to abandon their mission before apprehending one suspect with a pistol and mobile phone. Similarly, troops in Kebbi State repelled an attack in Kumchi Baba Village, pushing the assailants towards the Niger Republic, while follow-up clearance operations led to the arrest of another terrorist now in custody for further action.

These achievements reflect the growing dominance of Nigerian troops across the North-West theatre and underscore their ability to respond swiftly to emerging threats. The consistent pressure mounted by the military has significantly weakened terrorist networks, disrupted their logistics chains and reduced their capacity to carry out attacks. The Armed Forces, working closely with intelligence agencies and local stakeholders, continue to demonstrate professionalism, courage and adaptability in the face of evolving security challenges.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria reassure citizens that the ongoing operations will be sustained with renewed vigour until all criminal elements are decisively neutralized. Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies with timely and credible information. With the resilience and determination of the troops, Nigerians can remain confident that peace, security and normalcy will continue to be restored across affected communities.
