In a decisive blow to insurgent operations in the Northeast, troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have successfully neutralized nine Boko Haram terrorists during a high-impact clearance operation in Borno State. The operation also led to the recovery of over ₦4.35 million in cash, suspected to be ransom money extorted from local communities.
According to a statement released by the Theatre Command’s Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the operation was launched following credible intelligence reports of terrorist movements across Magumeri and Gajiram Local Government Areas. The troops engaged the insurgents in a fierce firefight near Goni Dunari in Magumeri, where the terrorists had been terrorizing residents and setting homes ablaze.
Lt. Col. Uba noted that the troops pursued the terrorists for over 90 kilometers toward Damjiyakiri village before establishing contact and launching a frontal assault. “The swift and coordinated response of our forces prevented further attacks on civilian populations and restored calm to the affected communities,” he said.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating terrorism and restoring peace in the region. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, commended the bravery and professionalism of the troops and urged continued vigilance among residents.
