President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a decisive directive to Nigeria’s newly appointed service chiefs, urging them to crush emerging armed groups and restore public confidence in the nation’s security architecture.

The President made this call during a high-level security briefing at the Presidential Villa, following the recent appointment of new military leadership across the Armed Forces. The reshuffle, described as strategic and urgent, comes amid rising concerns over insurgency, banditry, and organized criminal networks across various regions of the country.

President Tinubu emphasized the need for professionalism, unity, and operational effectiveness within the Armed Forces. “You are not here to occupy offices. You are here to deliver results. The Nigerian people demand peace, and you must give them peace,” the President declared.

He further instructed the service chiefs to prioritize intelligence gathering, inter-agency collaboration, and rapid response strategies to neutralize threats before they escalate. The President also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equipping the military with modern tools and resources necessary for success.

The appointments follow a wave of security concerns, including reports of emerging armed factions and alleged coup plots. Analysts view the shake-up as a bold move to recalibrate Nigeria’s defense posture and reinforce civilian oversight of the military.

In response, the new Chief of Defence Staff, General Oluyede, pledged unwavering loyalty to the Constitution and assured Nigerians of a renewed offensive against all forms of insecurity. “We are ready to serve with honour, courage, and commitment,” he stated.
