Former President Goodluck Jonathan has described his political journey as nothing short of a miracle, reflecting on a career marked by unexpected turns, historic milestones, and enduring public service. Speaking at a leadership symposium in Abuja, Jonathan shared personal insights into his rise from humble beginnings to the highest office in the land.
“I never imagined that a boy from Otuoke would one day lead this great nation,” Jonathan said. “My journey has been guided by grace, shaped by the will of the people, and sustained by a deep commitment to democracy.”
Jonathan’s remarks come amid renewed interest in his legacy, as scholars and political analysts revisit his tenure for its peaceful transition of power and emphasis on electoral integrity. He recounted pivotal moments—from his early days as a teacher and environmentalist, to his ascent through the ranks of public service, culminating in his presidency from 2010 to 2015.
The former president emphasized the importance of humility, resilience, and national unity, urging young Nigerians to believe in the power of service and possibility.
“If my story teaches anything, it is that miracles happen when we serve with sincerity and lead with purpose,” he added.
Jonathan continues to play a prominent role in regional diplomacy and democratic advocacy across Africa, serving as a respected voice in peace-building efforts and electoral reform.
