President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding the integrity of Nigeria’s judicial system, declaring that “justice must never be for sale.” The President made this statement during an address to senior members of the judiciary at a national judicial policy forum held in Abuja.
Speaking before a gathering of justices, legal scholars, and key justice-sector stakeholders, President Tinubu emphasized that the credibility of the judiciary remains central to strengthening democracy and sustaining public trust in government institutions. He stressed that no nation can progress when its justice system is compromised by corruption, undue influence, or delays in the dispensation of justice.
“Our courts must be the last hope of the common man,” President Tinubu stated. “For this reason, justice must never be for sale. It must never bend to wealth, power, or political pressure. A fair and functional judiciary is essential for national stability and economic growth.”
The President called for continued reforms across all levels of the judiciary, urging judges to maintain the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and transparency. He reiterated his commitment to supporting judicial independence and improving working conditions for officers within the justice system.
The forum also highlighted the need for technological advancements in court processes, emphasizing digital case management, faster trial timelines, and enhanced training for judicial officers to keep pace with evolving legal challenges.
Legal experts and judicial leaders at the event praised the President’s message, noting that reinforcing ethical standards within the judiciary is crucial to restoring public confidence.
