Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, born Daniel Hernandez, has been sentenced to three months in prison after violating the terms of his supervised release in connection with his prior gang-related case. The ruling was handed down on Friday, December 5, 2025, in federal court in Manhattan by Judge Paul Engelmayer, who expressed frustration over the artist’s repeated disregard for probation conditions.

The violations stemmed from assaulting a man and possessing drugs, both clear breaches of the restrictions placed on him following his release from prison in 2020 after cooperating in the Nine Trey Bloods RICO case. Judge Engelmayer emphasized that Hernandez’s actions demonstrated a belief that “ordinary rules don’t apply” to him, noting that a custodial sentence was necessary to reinforce accountability.

This latest sentence follows a 45-day jail term imposed late last year for similar violations. Despite undergoing mental health treatment and counseling, Hernandez has continued to attract controversy and legal troubles. The court rejected probation officers’ recommendation for additional house arrest, opting instead for prison time to underscore the seriousness of his repeated infractions.

Rose to fame in 2017 with the viral hit “Gummo.” Known for his flamboyant style, rainbow-colored hair, and high-profile feuds. Previously sentenced in 2019 for racketeering and firearms charges, but received a reduced sentence after cooperating with federal authorities against members of the Nine Trey Bloods gang. Released in 2020, placed under supervised release with strict conditions.

Judge Engelmayer remarked: “From time to time your actions suggest that you believe that ordinary rules don’t apply to you. Another prison sentence is needed to send a message.”
