President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, for an on-the-ground condolence visit to the people of Plateau following the recent killings that claimed lives and disrupted communities in parts of the state.

The President, who departed Abuja earlier today, landed at the Yakubu Gowon Airport in Jos at approximately 4:45 PM and was received by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, state government officials, traditional rulers, and security chiefs.

In a brief statement upon arrival, President Tinubu expressed profound grief over the loss of lives and the trauma inflicted on innocent citizens.

“I am here today not just as President, but as a fellow Nigerian who feels the pain of Plateau. These senseless killings must stop. My heart goes out to every family that has lost a loved one, and to every community living in fear. The Federal Government stands firmly with the people of Plateau. We will not rest until lasting peace and security are restored,” the President said.

During the visit, President Tinubu is scheduled to meet with bereaved families, visit affected communities, and hold a high-level security meeting with Governor Mutfwang, security agency heads, and stakeholders to review ongoing measures aimed at restoring normalcy and preventing future occurrences.

The President is accompanied by key members of the Federal Executive Council, including the Minister of Defence and the National Security Adviser.

The Federal Government reiterates its commitment to strengthening intelligence, enhancing community policing, and addressing the root causes of farmer-herder clashes and other forms of violence in Plateau State and across the country. Additional security assets have already been deployed to the state as part of immediate response efforts.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja later tonight after concluding the condolence engagements.
