Adamu Abubakar, son of Nigeria’s former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Chanchaga Federal Constituency in Niger State.
The primary election, held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, across the 11 wards of the constituency, saw Abubakar secure a landslide victory with 30,650 votes. His closest rival, Mr. Nmaa Ahmed, polled 1,271 votes, while Mr. Shuaibu Mairago received 311 votes. The Returning Officer, Mr. Dan Islam, formally declared Abubakar as the winner and the APC candidate for the 2026 House of Representatives election.
This strong showing underscores the confidence of party delegates and the electorate in Abubakar’s vision and commitment to effective representation. As the son of a revered statesman known for his pivotal role in Nigeria’s democratic transition, Adamu Abubakar brings a legacy of integrity, public service, and dedication to national development.
