Makinde-Backed PDP to Screen Over 3,000 Aspirants for 2027 General Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction backed by Oyo State Governor, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has announced plans to screen a total of 3,181 aspirants for various elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.


This comprehensive screening exercise forms a key part of the faction’s preparations to select credible, competent, and people-oriented candidates who will drive the party’s vision of good governance, economic renewal, and national development under the emerging PDP-APM alliance framework.


Breakdown of Aspirants: State House of Assembly: 2,122 aspirants. House of Representatives: 748 aspirants. Senatorial: 198 aspirants. Governorship: 112 aspirants Presidential: 1 aspirant.


The screening process will ensure that only candidates with proven integrity, capacity, and commitment to public service emerge as the party’s flagbearers. It underscores the faction’s dedication to internal democracy, transparency, and building a strong, united front capable of reclaiming power and resetting Nigeria for progress.
