Senate President Godswill Akpabio has clarified that the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu never promised instant miracles to Nigerians, but rather a Renewed Hope Agenda anchored on structural, calculated, and deliberate progress.
Speaking yesterday while representing President Tinubu at the inauguration of a seven-kilometre access road and bridge bypassing the second runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Senator Akpabio emphasized the government’s commitment to sustainable development that delivers tangible benefits to citizens.
“When we came into office, we did not promise you miracles that would appear from thin air. We promised you structural, calculated, and deliberate progress. We promised a Renewed Hope Agenda that will touch the lives of every Nigerian citizen, not just in economic statistics but in the reality of their daily struggles,” Akpabio stated.
The Senate President highlighted the newly commissioned road project as a concrete example of the Renewed Hope Agenda in action. The infrastructure addresses long-standing challenges faced by communities that sacrificed ancestral lands for the airport expansion, ensuring they are no longer cut off from essential connectivity.
He commended the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, for his leadership in delivering quality projects and stressed that no citizen should be made a victim of national development.
Senator Akpabio called on Nigerians to remain patient and supportive as the government continues to implement reforms aimed at long-term economic stability, improved infrastructure, and better living standards across the country.
“This is hope made tangible in concrete and asphalt,” he added. The statement comes amid ongoing economic challenges, with the administration reiterating its focus on foundational reforms rather than quick fixes.
