President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of a teacher abducted in Oyo State and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the immediate and safe rescue of all abducted students and remaining teachers.

The President strongly condemned the barbaric beheading of Mr. Michael Oyedokun, a Mathematics teacher at Community High School, Ahoro-Esiele in Oriire Local Government Area, describing the act as “heinous and unacceptable.” He extended heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family, Governor Seyi Makinde, the government, and people of Oyo State.

“No child should be taken from the safety of a classroom. This evil act against innocent teachers and students will not go unpunished,” President Tinubu stated.

The President has directed security agencies to deploy all necessary resources, including intelligence-led operations and a specialized rescue team, to secure the prompt release of the abducted students and teachers. He also approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards to strengthen security in the affected areas and surrounding forests.

President Tinubu assured the families of the victims that they have not been abandoned and urged them to remain hopeful as the government works round the clock with the Oyo State Government to bring their loved ones home safely.

He further called on the National Assembly to expedite the passage of the State Police Bill, noting that enhanced decentralized policing is critical to tackling the rising threat of banditry and kidnapping across the country.

The Presidency commended the efforts of the Inspector-General of Police and the Oyo State Government while warning that perpetrators and their collaborators will face the full wrath of the law.
