Yoruba Nation activist Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has issued a strong and unequivocal warning to suspected kidnappers and members of the Fulani community in his hometown of Igboho, declaring that abductions will no longer be tolerated.
In a widely circulated video and statement delivered directly in Igboho town today, Igboho declared: “You can’t be kidnapping people in my hometown.” He gave a two-hour ultimatum for the release of recently abducted individuals, including schoolchildren and a pregnant woman, warning of decisive action if his demand is not met.
Igboho, who stormed the community amid growing concerns over insecurity, specifically addressed Fulani leaders and residents, vowing to enter households and take necessary measures against those involved in kidnapping and related crimes. He also cautioned local indigenes colluding with criminals to desist immediately.
This latest intervention follows the abduction of schoolchildren from multiple schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15, 2026, an incident that has entered its sixth week with no releases reported. The activist has repeatedly expressed readiness to confront insecurity in the Southwest, while alleging that certain politicians may be sponsoring or shielding the perpetrators.
“I am Sunday Igboho, and I am from this hometown. I will not allow criminal elements to turn my community into a den of kidnappers,” he stated emphatically
Igboho called on security agencies to intensify efforts in rescuing the abducted victims believed to be held in the Old Oyo National Park area, while urging the Federal and State Governments to address the root causes of banditry and kidnapping in the region.
The development has sparked mixed reactions, with some residents welcoming the activist’s bold stance on insecurity, while others caution against actions that could escalate ethnic tensions or undermine formal security operations.
Authorities in Oyo State are urged to restore peace and ensure the safe return of all abducted persons without delay.
