The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to deploy a first-of-its-kind real-time election readiness tracker to monitor preparations for the 2027 general elections across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN, disclosed this on Monday while declaring open a two-day strategic operational workshop for administrative secretaries at the Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

The tracker will give the Commission’s leadership instant access to updates on logistics, recruitment and training of ad-hoc staff, technology deployment and other key election preparations. It aims to prevent last-minute operational failures and replace reactive responses with proactive management.

A statement signed by the Commission’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs Victoria Eta-Messi, confirmed that the tool will allow real-time monitoring of election preparations nationwide as the national voter register approaches the historic 100 million mark.

Professor Amupitan also disclosed that the Continuous Voter Registration exercise, conducted in three phases between August 2025 and July 2026, recorded a cumulative total of 10,772,421 new registrants. The figures remain subject to ongoing verification through the Automated Biometric Identification System.

He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to ensuring that no eligible Nigerian is disenfranchised due to logistical challenges in the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards.
