Guinness World Records has officially confirmed Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci as the new record holder for the Largest Serving of Nigerian-Style Jollof Rice, a monumental culinary feat that has captivated the nation and the world.
The record-breaking event took place on September 13, 2025, at Victoria Island, Lagos, where Hilda Baci, in partnership with food brand Gino, prepared a staggering 8,780 kilograms (19,356 lb 9 oz) of the iconic West African dish. The achievement was announced via Guinness World Records’ official social media channels, marking another milestone in Baci’s illustrious career.
The event drew thousands of spectators, including food lovers, celebrities, and dignitaries, creating a carnival-like atmosphere filled with music, dance, and culinary excitement. Notable personalities such as Funke Akindele, Bamidele Abiodun, and Kaffy joined Baci on stage to celebrate the achievement and stir the massive pot of jollof rice.
“This record belongs to every Nigerian who believes in the power of food to unite, inspire, and elevate,” said Hilda Baci. “It took nine hours of fire, passion, and teamwork to bring this vision to life.”
Strict Guinness guidelines ensured that every gram was accounted for and that none of the food went to waste. In total, 16,600 plates of jollof rice were served to attendees, symbolizing not just a culinary triumph but a communal celebration.
This latest achievement follows Baci’s 2023 Guinness World Record for the Longest Cooking Marathon by an Individual, where she cooked for over 93 hours, earning global recognition and inspiring a new generation of culinary enthusiasts.
