Afrobeats megastar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has addressed the viral video circulating online that appeared to show him being slapped during a recent visit to Warri, Delta State. The clip, which sparked widespread speculation and concern among fans, has now been clarified by the singer himself.

In a direct response to the rumors, Davido stated: “Mumu, that was my security… hit me by mistake… saddist.”

The video in question showed Davido being escorted by his security team through a crowd of cheering fans when a hand was seen making contact with his head. While some online commentators claimed the singer had been assaulted by a fan, Davido quickly debunked the claim, explaining that the incident was a misstep by one of his own security personnel, not an act of aggression from the public.

Davido’s clarification comes amid growing concern over artist safety during public appearances. Fans had expressed outrage and confusion, with some calling for tighter security protocols. However, the singer’s calm and candid response has helped diffuse the tension and restore clarity.

Known for his transparency and connection with fans, Davido continues to set an example of how public figures can responsibly address misinformation. With his fifth studio album 5ive recently released to critical acclaim, the artist remains focused on his music and his mission to uplift African sound on the global stage.
