In a decisive and courageous operation, troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Fasan Yamma successfully raided a terrorist enclave in Pauwa village, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, rescuing 23 kidnapped victims, including 12 women and 11 children, and neutralizing 23 terrorists in a fierce encounter.
The operation, conducted with coordinated support from air and artillery units, marks a significant victory in the ongoing fight against terrorism and banditry in Nigeria’s Northwest region. Troops recovered and destroyed items including motorcycles, spare parts, lubricants, farm machinery, and foodstuffs used by the terrorists to sustain their criminal activities.
Brigadier General, spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, stated: “This successful raid demonstrates our unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security across the region. The rescued victims are receiving medical attention and will be reunited with their families shortly.”
The Defence Headquarters reaffirmed its dedication to sustaining pressure on terrorist networks and urged citizens to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to aid military operations.
Operation Fasan Yamma, meaning “Salvage the West,” was launched in late 2024 to consolidate previous efforts under a unified command structure, enhancing coordination and effectiveness in combating organized criminal groups across Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, and Niger States.
