In a decisive military operation aimed at curbing insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest region, troops deployed along the Kebbi–Zamfara border have successfully neutralized no fewer than 80 armed bandits attempting to infiltrate Kebbi State.

The operation, which took place in Ngaski Local Government Area, was part of a broader security strategy initiated by Governor Nasir Idris to reinforce surveillance and defense across Kebbi’s borders with Sokoto, Zamfara, and Niger states. According to Abdullahi Idris Zuru, Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, the troops were strategically positioned and well-equipped to intercept and repel the incursion.

“This successful engagement is a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Kebbi State Government to protect its citizens and restore peace in border communities,” Zuru stated. “The troops acted swiftly and decisively, preventing what could have been a major security breach.”

The clash occurred during a coordinated sweep of vulnerable border zones, where intelligence reports had indicated increased bandit activity. The bandits, reportedly armed and organized, were intercepted before they could penetrate deeper into Kebbi territory. The military’s rapid response and superior tactics led to the neutralization of the threat without reported casualties among the troops.

Governor Nasir Idris commended the bravery and professionalism of the soldiers involved, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to supporting security agencies with logistics, intelligence, and strategic coordination. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities by reporting suspicious movements.

This operation marks a significant milestone in Kebbi’s ongoing efforts to combat banditry and restore normalcy to affected regions. The state government continues to work closely with federal security forces to ensure sustained peace and stability.
