In a significant political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, Otunba Olayinka Braimoh, the former governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the 2023 Kogi State election, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Braimoh made the announcement during a well-attended ceremony in Kabba, the headquarters of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, where he declared his commitment to transforming the leadership landscape of Kogi State. Addressing party members and supporters, Braimoh emphasized that his decision to join ADC was driven by a desire to align with a coalition capable of delivering visionary leadership and meaningful change.

“With the calibre of persons in the party, ADC coalition is the platform under which I believe my vision of a new Kogi State can be actualised,” Braimoh stated.

He further called on the people of Kogi State to rally behind the ADC, describing it as a “moving train” poised to tackle poverty and ineffective governance. Braimoh expressed confidence that the party’s inclusive and progressive ideology aligns with his long-standing commitment to public service and development.

The defection marks a strategic shift in Kogi’s political terrain, as Braimoh joins a growing list of influential figures who have recently embraced the ADC platform. His move is expected to bolster the party’s presence in the state and energize its grassroots mobilization efforts.

Party leaders welcomed Braimoh’s entry, praising his leadership qualities and dedication to the state’s advancement. The ADC spokesperson noted that Braimoh’s experience and vision would be instrumental in shaping the party’s strategy for the upcoming elections.

As political realignments continue across Nigeria in anticipation of 2027, Braimoh’s defection underscores the evolving dynamics within Kogi State and signals a renewed push for reform-oriented governance.
