ACF Fiorentina announces the immediate termination of head coach Stefano Pioli following a disappointing start to the 2025–26 Serie A campaign. The decision comes after the team failed to secure a single victory in its first 10 league matches, collecting only four points from four draws and six defeats.
The club’s management described the move as necessary to revive Fiorentina’s competitive edge and restore confidence among players and supporters. Pioli’s final match in charge—a 1-0 home defeat to Lecce—proved to be the tipping point in a season that has seen the Tuscan side fall to the bottom of the league table.
Appointed in July 2025 for a second stint with Fiorentina after coaching stints at AC Milan and Al-Nassr, Pioli was expected to build on the club’s sixth-place finish last season. However, the team’s performance failed to meet expectations, prompting swift action from the board.
In an official statement, the club said: “ACF Fiorentina announces that Stefano Pioli has been relieved, as of today, from his position as head coach of the Men's First Team. The club wishes to thank the coach and his staff for the professionalism shown during their work.”
Fiorentina has named Daniele Galloppa as interim head coach while the search for a permanent replacement is underway. The club remains committed to its long-term vision and assures fans of its determination to return to winning ways.
