The Nigeria Police Force has issued a firm warning to criminal elements planning to disrupt the upcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra State. Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, declared that the Force will not tolerate any form of lawlessness or violence during the electoral process.

Speaking during a high-level security briefing in Abuja, the IGP emphasized the readiness of the Police to ensure a peaceful, free, and fair election. He stated that Anambra remains a no-go zone for criminals and political thugs seeking to undermine the democratic process.

“Let it be clear to all troublemakers: stay out of Anambra,” the IGP said. “We have deployed adequate personnel and resources to secure the state and protect voters, electoral officials, and critical infrastructure.”

The Police Force has activated a multi-agency security framework in collaboration with the military, Department of State Services (DSS), and other paramilitary agencies. This joint task force will monitor flashpoints, conduct intelligence operations, and respond swiftly to any threats.

The IGP confirmed that tactical units, including the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, and Special Forces, have been stationed across strategic locations in Anambra. Surveillance drones and armored vehicles will also support ground operations.

“Our officers have received special training for election duty,” Egbetokun added. “They will act professionally and impartially while maintaining law and order.”

The Nigeria Police Force reassures residents of Anambra State, political parties, and civil society organizations of its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process. The IGP urged citizens to cooperate with security personnel and report suspicious activities through designated hotlines.

He also called on political actors to conduct their campaigns peacefully and avoid inciting violence or spreading misinformation.

“We are determined to protect democracy,” the IGP said. “No individual or group will be allowed to sabotage the will of the people.”

The Police warned that anyone caught engaging in vote-buying, ballot snatching, intimidation, or any other electoral offense will face immediate arrest and prosecution. Special monitoring teams have been assigned to polling units and collation centers to ensure compliance with electoral laws.
