The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially announced that its highly anticipated National Convention will be held in Ibadan, Oyo State, this Saturday. The confirmation came from Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, who also serves as the Chairman of the 2025 National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC).

Following a critical stakeholders’ meeting at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, Governor Fintiri addressed the press, stating: “We’ve just come out of our critical stakeholders’ meeting where a lot of elaborate decisions were taken. I want to tell you here that we are going to Ibadan for our convention and the convention is sacrosanct.”

The meeting was attended by key party figures including Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, PDP National Chairman Umar Damagum, National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, and other members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Working Committee (NWC).

Despite internal challenges and legal concerns, the PDP leadership reaffirmed its commitment to holding the convention in Ibadan, emphasizing unity and readiness to move forward. BoT Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara also reiterated the party’s stance, stating that all organs of the PDP had agreed to proceed with the convention as planned.

The convention is expected to feature key decisions on party leadership, strategic direction, and preparations for upcoming national elections. It marks a pivotal moment for the PDP as it seeks to consolidate its position and energize its base ahead of 2027.
