A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by National Chairman Nafiu Bala, today rejects the reported defection of Peter Obi to the party. The group also disowns the registration event that took place in Enugu State.

In a clear statement, Chairman Nafiu Bala said the move by Peter Obi, who was the Labour Party's presidential candidate in 2023, breaks the party's rules. "We do not accept this defection. It was done without following our party's guidelines," Bala explained. He added that the Enugu registration is not valid and does not represent the true ADC.

The faction believes this action could cause confusion among members and supporters. They urge all ADC members to stay loyal to the party's original leadership and values. "Our goal is to build a strong, united party for Nigeria's future. We will not let outside actions divide us," Bala stated.

This comes after reports that Peter Obi left the Labour Party and joined ADC in Enugu. The ADC faction insists that any new members must join through proper channels approved by the national executive.
