In a bold move to inspire the nation's football heroes, President Daniel Francisco Chapo has pledged an extraordinary bonus to the Mozambique national team, known as the Mambas, should they secure a victory against Nigeria's Super Eagles in their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 round of 16 match.

The incentive, announced during a motivational visit to the team's training camp, promises each player and member of the coaching staff 500,000 metricais equivalent to approximately ₦11.3 million in Nigerian currency or $7,800 if they triumph over the formidable Nigerian side.

This gesture underscores the President's commitment to boosting team morale and national pride as Mozambique aims to make history in the tournament.

"The Mambas have already shown incredible resilience and skill to reach this stage," said President Chapo. "A win against a powerhouse like Nigeria would not only propel us further in AFCON but also unite our nation in celebration. This bonus is a token of appreciation for their hard work and a motivation to give their all on the pitch."

The highly anticipated match is scheduled for January 5, 2026, pitting the underdog Mambas against the three-time AFCON champions. Mozambique's journey to the knockout stage has captured the hearts of fans across the continent, and this incentive adds an extra layer of excitement to what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

The Mozambique Football Federation (FMF) has expressed gratitude for the President's support, noting that such initiatives are crucial for the development of sports in the country. "We are inspired by this leadership and ready to fight for every ball," stated FMF President Feizal Sidat.

As the nation rallies behind the team, President Chapo calls on all Mozambicans to show their support, whether in stadiums or from afar. "Let us come together as one to cheer on our Mambas. Victory is within reach!"
