Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has broken her silence on recent controversies surrounding her personal life, revealing that she underwent a voluntary drug test to dispel baseless rumors of substance abuse. The test, conducted in California, returned negative results, confirming she has never used hard drugs.
In a detailed Instagram post shared on Wednesday, Daniels described the past few months as an emotionally challenging period marked by intense public scrutiny and personal reflection. "The past few months of my life have been nothing short of heavy," she stated.
"One of those seasons that tries to sit on your chest and ask, ‘So, what are we doing next?’ It has been a major turning point, one that shook me to my core. Everything I had ever known was drowning right in front of me. But here’s the plot twist…I didn’t drown with it."
Daniels expressed profound gratitude for the unwavering support from her family, friends, and the public, which she credited for carrying her through the ordeal. "Why? Because I was carried by overwhelming love, support, patience, and understanding from my family, my friends, and members of the general public. And for that, I am forever grateful," she added.
Addressing the specific allegations head-on, Daniels refuted claims that she is a drug addict, calling them fabrications rooted in social media speculation amid reports of marital issues with her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
"One thing that echoed loudly across the media was, ‘Regina is a drug addict.’ And honestly? I paused, then I checked again. I looked at myself in the mirror repeatedly, searching for this so-called addict. I searched so hard it almost felt like I was going psychic…because surely, I must be missing something," she reflected.
She emphasized that such rumors are often projections of others' insecurities, not truth, and affirmed her commitment to defining her own narrative.
"I'm not a drug addict. I was never on hard drugs or any nonsense fabricated online," Daniels declared emphatically. She explained her decision to take the test: "After much reflection (and a few very long conversations with myself), I decided to take this test because I owe it to the people who stood by me, the people who love me, and the people who look up to me. Integrity matters. Accountability matters. Peace of mind especially matters."
The actress's statement comes amid ongoing public discussions about her marriage, including claims of separation and mutual allegations between her and Nwoko regarding domestic issues and concerns over substance use. Daniels's proactive step aims to set the record straight and inspire accountability in the face of misinformation.
