The Jigawa State Government has approved N2.6 billion for the 2026 Hajj exercise, aiming to facilitate a seamless and well-organized pilgrimage for its intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. The decision was made during the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday in Dutse, as announced by Commissioner for Information, Sagir Musa.
The allocated funds will cover essential aspects of the Hajj operations, including air transportation, accommodation, feeding, medical services, orientation programs, and other logistical arrangements. This comprehensive funding is intended to ensure the welfare and efficient transportation of pilgrims, allowing them to fulfill their religious obligations without undue hardship.
Commissioner Sagir Musa emphasized the government's commitment to a hitch-free Hajj exercise, stating that the implementation will adhere strictly to guidelines set by Saudi authorities while prioritizing transparency and accountability. Relevant agencies have been directed to collaborate closely to support this goal.
This approval aligns with ongoing preparations for the 2026 Hajj, including medical screenings and adherence to international health requirements mandated by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. Jigawa State's initiative reflects its dedication to supporting religious practices and pilgrim safety amid rising global standards for such events.
