The Ogun State Government, under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, CON, has announced the successful delivery of 5,000 affordable housing units across the state within the last six years.

This significant achievement marks a pivotal moment in the administration’s commitment to addressing housing deficits and fostering sustainable urban development.

This ambitious housing initiative, a cornerstone of Governor Abiodun’s "Building Our Future Together" agenda, has been executed through strategic partnerships and innovative financing models. The delivered units span various housing schemes, including the Prince Court Estate in Abeokuta, Kobape Housing Scheme, King’s Court Estate, and others in Ijebu-Ode, Ilaro, and Sagamu.

These estates cater to diverse income brackets, offering modern amenities and fostering the creation of integrated, vibrant communities.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, commenting on this milestone, stated: “The provision of affordable and quality housing is not just a policy for us; it is a fundamental commitment to the welfare and dignity of our people. The delivery of 5,000 homes is a testament to our unwavering dedication to inclusive development. Each key handed over represents a family sheltered, a dream realized, and a stronger foundation for our state’s socio-economic growth.”

The housing projects have been acclaimed for their strategic locations, quality of construction, and the resultant economic impact, including job creation during construction and the stimulation of local economies.

Building on this momentum, the State Government has unveiled an even more ambitious target: to deliver a total of 10,000 housing units by the year 2027. This renewed focus will involve expanding existing schemes, embarking on new projects in emerging urban centers, and further deepening public-private partnerships to ensure affordability and efficiency.

“Our work is far from over,” Governor Abiodun added. “The target of 10,000 homes by 2027 is a clear signal of our resolve. We are committed to accelerating our efforts, leveraging technology, and ensuring that more of our citizens, especially the workforce, civil servants, and young professionals, can own decent homes in a secure and thriving environment.”
