Kaduna State Governor, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani, has declared that access to reliable electricity is a fundamental right for every community in the state, not a privilege reserved for urban elites.
The Governor made this emphatic statement during the official flag-off of a massive electrification initiative, underscoring his administration's commitment to bridging the urban-rural power divide and driving inclusive economic growth.
Speaking at the event, where 600 transformers and 10,000 solar streetlights were distributed across all 23 Local Government Areas, Governor Sani emphasized that electricity serves as the bloodstream of modern society essential for powering homes, businesses, schools, hospitals, and small-scale enterprises.
“We are sending a clear message that access to energy must no longer be the privilege of a few urban centres but the right of every community,” Governor Sani declared. “Electricity is not a luxury; it is the foundation for progress, productivity, and improved quality of life for all our people.”
The Governor highlighted that his administration has prioritized completing abandoned power projects, rehabilitating critical transmission lines (such as those from Kagarko Junction to Manchok in Zone Three), and launching new interventions to extend reliable power supply to underserved rural and semi-urban areas.
This electrification drive aims to boost economic activities, empower small and medium enterprises (SMEs), enable artisans like welders and tailors, and support overall rural development.
By treating electricity as a democratic right and a key enabler of development, the Kaduna State Government is taking bold steps to ensure no community is left in darkness.
The distribution of transformers and solar-powered streetlights represents a significant investment in infrastructure that will enhance security, facilitate nighttime economic activities, and improve living standards statewide.
Governor Uba Sani reiterated his administration's resolve to continue collaborating with relevant stakeholders, including federal agencies, distribution companies, and local communities, to achieve sustainable and equitable power access for all residents of Kaduna State.
