Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has formally declared his intention to seek re-election in the upcoming gubernatorial race, asserting that his performance in office and unwavering commitment to the people form an unassailable case for a second term.

In a statement released to the press on Day, the Governor outlined the achievements of his administration, which he argues have laid a solid foundation for sustainable development and transformed the socio-economic landscape of the state. He dismissed opposition claims as "baseless distractions," insisting that the mandate given to him by the good people of Osun in the last election must be renewed to consolidate the gains of the last two years.

“My re-election is not just a political ambition; it is a covenant with the people of Osun State to continue the work we have started,” Governor Adeleke stated. “From day one, our focus has been on the five-point agenda: workers' welfare, infrastructure development, quality education, accessible healthcare, and the empowerment of our youth and women. The evidence of our labour is visible across every local government area.”

The Governor highlighted several key achievements he believes will secure his return to office. He reiterated his administration's commitment to the welfare of civil servants, noting the prompt payment of salaries and the implementation of the minimum wage, which has brought relief to thousands of families across the state.

Governor Adeleke pointed to the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of major roads across the three senatorial districts, describing it as an "unprecedented infrastructure revolution" that is opening up rural areas and boosting economic activities.

He cited the renovation of numerous public schools and primary healthcare centres, ensuring that citizens have access to quality education and medical services irrespective of their location.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration's stance on local government autonomy, which he described as a cornerstone of true democratic governance and grassroots development.

Governor Adeleke also addressed critics who have questioned his administration's pace, retorting, “Those who are yet to come to terms with the reality of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) leadership in Osun are at liberty to engage in political theatrics. However, the silent majority the market women, the artisans, the farmers, and the civil servants know that their lives have changed for the better. They will speak loudly with their votes in 2026.”

He further described the opposition as a "confused lot" struggling to find a footing in a state that has fully embraced his brand of inclusive and participatory governance. “Osun is moving forward. We cannot afford to go back to the era of stagnation and retrogressive policies,” he added.

The Governor called on all party faithful and supporters across the state to remain united and focused, assuring them that the PDP would once again emerge victorious based on the strength of its developmental record.

“By the grace of God and the support of the people, I will be re-elected to continue the good work. The progress we have made is irreversible, and together, we will take Osun to greater heights,” Governor Adeleke concluded.
