Passionate address today, prominent opposition figure and former governorship candidate Natasha  issued a clarion call to former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), urging them to return to the fold and join efforts to rebuild the party from the ground up.

Speaking at a strategic stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, Natasha emphasized that the current political landscape demands a strong, unified opposition to address the pressing challenges facing the nation. She described the PDP as "the most viable vehicle for the democratic resurgence Nigeria desperately needs," calling on defectors who left in the wake of internal disputes and electoral losses to reconsider their positions.

“Our party is not just a structure; it is a movement rooted in the democratic aspirations of the Nigerian people,” Natasha said. “To those who left in frustration or ambition, I say: the door is open. The house is being rebuilt, and your experience, your energy, and your belief in a better Nigeria are needed now more than ever.”

Natasha’s appeal comes amid ongoing efforts to reposition the PDP as a cohesive force ahead of future election cycles. Acknowledging the party’s recent internal challenges including leadership tussles and post-election litigation she stressed that the time for grievances has passed and the time for reconstruction has begun.

Political analysts note that the PDP has struggled to maintain its status as the main opposition following a wave of high-profile defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other smaller parties over the last two years. Natasha’s initiative is seen as part of a broader strategy to consolidate opposition ranks ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“A weak opposition is a threat to democracy,” Natasha added. “We cannot afford to be fragmented while Nigerians struggle with insecurity, economic hardship, and a lack of accountable governance. Let us put aside personal ambitions and do the hard work of rebuilding. The PDP must rise again not for ourselves, but for the Nigerian people.”

The event concluded with the inauguration of a Reconciliation and Rebuilding Committee, tasked with reaching out to former members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Party stalwarts in attendance expressed optimism that Natasha’s appeal would resonate with disillusioned members seeking a genuine platform for change.
