Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for the Imo West Senatorial District (Orlu Zone), defeating former Governor Senator Rochas Okorocha in a landslide.
Governor Uzodimma polled a total of 230,464 votes across the 12 Local Government Areas in the zone, while his closest contender, Senator Rochas Okorocha, scored 1,098 votes. The primary was conducted through the direct Option A4 voting system.

The exercise was described as peaceful, transparent, and credible by party officials and participants. Many aspirants in the other senatorial districts stepped down for consensus candidates, further strengthening party unity.
Speaking after casting his vote at Omuma Ward, Governor Uzodimma commended APC members for their massive turnout and commitment, describing the direct primary as one of the most credible electoral processes in recent times. He expressed confidence in a sweeping victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections, both in Imo State and at the national level.
Quote from Governor Hope Uzodimma: “The excitement and jubilation among our people show that APC has come to stay in Imo State. The massive participation we witnessed today shows that APC will continue to win elections, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure re-election convincingly.”
The APC Publicity Secretary in Imo State, Onwuasoanya Jones, applauded aspirants who stepped down for the sake of unity and thanked INEC officials and security agencies for ensuring a smooth process.
This victory positions Governor Uzodimma as the APC flagbearer for the Imo West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 National Assembly elections.
