Trabzonspor forward Paul Onuachu and İstanbul Başakşehir striker Eldor Shomurodov have been crowned joint winners of the Turkish Süper Lig Golden Boot for the 2025/2026 season after both finished as the league’s top scorers with 22 goals each.
The duo edged out high-profile names, including Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen of Galatasaray, who netted 15 league goals in a competitive race that kept fans and pundits engaged until the final stretch of the campaign.
Onuachu, in particular, delivered a standout season for Trabzonspor, showcasing remarkable consistency and clinical finishing. His performance earned high praise from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate the forward.
“Paul Onuachu was a force to reckon with, scoring 22 goals in the Süper Lig this season,” the NFF stated.
Shomurodov mirrored Onuachu’s impressive tally for Başakşehir, underlining his own prolific form. Fenerbahçe’s Anderson Talisca placed third with 19 goals, while Galatasaray’s Mauro Icardi contributed 14 goals.
This achievement marks a significant milestone for Onuachu, further cementing his reputation as one of Nigeria’s premier strikers abroad. His success comes on the heels of strong performances throughout the season, including crucial goals that helped Trabzonspor in domestic competitions.
The Golden Boot race highlighted the depth of talent in the Turkish Süper Lig, with Nigerian players once again making their mark on the international stage. Osimhen, despite finishing outside the top three, delivered several memorable performances for Galatasaray.
