Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, Founder and General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, has made it clear that he will not hand over the leadership of the church to any of his biological sons, emphasizing that the ministry belongs solely to Jesus Christ.
In a powerful statement that has resonated across the Christian community, Pastor Kumuyi addressed speculations about succession, declaring: “The reason why I will never handover Deeper Life church to any of my biological sons is because the church doesn’t belong to me. It’s Jesus church. Nobody has right to hand it over to his son.”
Pastor Kumuyi, who founded Deeper Life Bible Church in 1973, has built the ministry into one of Africa’s largest and most respected Pentecostal churches, known for its emphasis on holiness, rigorous Bible teaching, and global outreach. His remarks underscore a commitment to divine leadership over familial inheritance in church governance.
The respected cleric stressed that the church is not a personal empire or family business but a sacred institution under the headship of Christ. This position aims to guide the church’s future direction based on spiritual calling rather than bloodline.
Pastor Kumuyi’s message comes amid ongoing discussions within some church circles about leadership succession, reinforcing the principle that God alone appoints and equips leaders for His work.
